If you mix calcium carbide and water, it produces acetylene. Acetylene is extremely flammable and can launch 55-gallon drums into the air when ignited.
I’m not going to lie to you, this is dangerous fun, so at least make sure you’re in your friends yard when you do it, and that you haven’t parked your car anywhere close-by.
