How does releasing your inner Lannister in an MMORPG sound to you?

HBO has signed a deal with German gaming group Bigpoint to develop a massive multiplayer online role playing game based on HBO’s Emmy-winning fantasy series Game of Thrones.

Bigpoint, which developed a similar MMORPG based on theBattlestar Galactica series, said it will give an exclusive first-look into plans for the game next week the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco (March 5-9).

As with Battlestar Galactica, the Game of Thrones online game will be free-to-play. The game will be set in the series’ fictional medieval world of Westeros and feature plotlines inspired by the show and George R.R. Martin‘s original A Song of Ice and Firebook series. The second season of Game of Thrones bows on HBO April 1.

How does the idea of a free to play MMORPG based on Game of Thrones sound to you. Would it be better going with a more “full flegded” WoW style game?

Well, not unless you want your kids to grow up to be awesome. Screw that Disney bullshit – George R.R. Martin (Game of Thrones) knows exactly how children’s nursery rhymes should go.
